Coconut (Cocos nucifera) Oil

Cold-pressed from the fruit of the coconut palm, this deeply moisturizing oil is rich in vitamin E, essential fatty acids, and natural antioxidants. It nourishes the skin, enhances hydration, and helps maintain the skin’s natural barrier. In soap, coconut oil provides excellent cleansing power and creates a rich, fluffy lather. It transitions between solid and liquid around 77°F. Most people with tree nut allergies can safely eat coconut and its products without any symptoms of a reaction. Still, you should speak to a healthcare professional before trying coconut if you have an extreme allergy to tree nuts.

Colloidal Oatmeal (Avena sativa)

Colloidal oatmeal is finely milled whole oats that form a protective barrier on the skin, attracting moisture and reducing irritation. It soothes dry, inflamed, and sensitive skin, helping to relieve itching from eczema and minor irritations while providing gentle exfoliation. Not Gluten-Free. Oats do not contain gluten but may be cross contaminated with gluten.

Lye (Sodium Hydroxide KOH or Potassium Hydroxide NaOH)

Lye is essential for making real soap through saponification, a natural chemical reaction that transforms oils and butters into soap and glycerin. Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) creates solid bar soaps, while Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) produces liquid soaps. We use both for our shaving soap to achieve a creamy texture. Without lye, there is no true soap—only detergents.

Potassium Hydroxide NaOH (Lye)

Potassium Hydroxide is used in our liquid foaming soaps and shaving creams. It reacts with oils during the soap-making process to create soap and glycerin through a chemical reaction called saponification. Potassium-based soaps are softer and often liquid, making it ideal for these formulations. All real soap is made with lye.

Sodium Hydroxide NaOH (Lye)

Lye is essential for making real soap through a natural process called saponification, where lye reacts with plant oils and butters to create soap and glycerin.  Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) is used for our bar soaps, making them firm.
